I’m eyeing the new 2026 Kindle Colorsoft Kids for my daughter ahead of our big three-week trip to Asia this December. A whole holiday’s reading in one small device is very tempting.
Why colour? Graphic novels. Apparently, that’s what the kids are into these days. And for those, I can see the appeal of a colour screen over a black-and-white Kindle.
At around $20 a printed novel, the books add up. I’m hoping Kindle editions will bring the cost per book down, though I’ll compare prices for the titles she actually wants. And then there’s the packing: graphic novels are really heavy!!! One e-reader sounds much more appealing than carrying a stack of them around Asia for three weeks.
Of course, I’d love her to fall for the original, all-words The Baby-Sitters Club books I read when I was young. But reading is reading. So the Kindle Colorsoft it is—on my wish list, for now!
These links are for the 2026 Kids model with 16GB of storage and the Desert Dash cover. It includes one year of Amazon Kids+, which renews automatically unless cancelled. I’ll check the books available and the delivery date before ordering for our December trip.
